The Women’s Empowerment Center (WEC) is a welcoming, supportive space where women can build skills, gain confidence, and connect to resources. We offer free classes, workshops, and support focused on employment, financial stability, wellness, and personal growth.

Food as Medicine Meal Prep Class
Join us for a hands-on Food as Medicine Meal Prep Class where participants will learn simple, healthy meal-preparation skills while preparing and enjoying a nutritious meal together. Participants will eat the meal they prepare and take leftovers home to enjoy later.
Details:
  • Must be SNAP eligible to attend
  • Minimum age: 12 years old
  • Attendance: Limited to 15 participants
  • Babysitting: Available during the class
  • Participants will receive a coupon for a free item at The Madison Street Boutique
This class is a great opportunity to build confidence in preparing affordable, nutritious meals while connecting with others in a welcoming, supportive environment.

About the Program
Food for Life is a five-week educational and cooking series focusing on the relationship between food, nutrition, and breast cancer prevention and survival.
Participants will learn about plant-based nutrition, cancer-fighting foods, healthy weight management, and practical ways to incorporate nutritious foods into everyday life. Each session includes a cooking demonstration and easy, affordable recipes to take home.
Five-Week Series
October 14: Introduction to How Foods Fight Cancer
October 21: Fueling Up on Low-Fat, High-Fiber Foods
October 28: Discovering Dairy and Meat Alternatives
November 4: Cancer-Fighting Compounds and Healthy Weight Control
November 11: Foods and Breast Cancer Survival
Who Is It For?
The series is designed for breast cancer survivors, family and friends, and people interested in cancer prevention.
The program is not intended for individuals currently undergoing breast cancer treatment.
