Reframing Aging - ADRC
Reframing Aging means shifting the story from decline to possibility. It’s about recognizing the strengths, wisdom, and resilience that grow with time—and challenging outdated assumptions that limit what people can do as they age. When we change the narrative, we unlock a future where every stage of life is valued, vibrant, and full of potential. Total of three presentations:
Mind Gym – Games that train your brain on May 14th at 10 am by Amy Staniforth, Prevention and Program Supervisor, ADRC
Boosting brainpower, one game at a time! This presentation explores how interactive games support cognitive health, enhance memory, and keep our minds agile at any age. Let’s play for a sharper brain!
Give yourself a timeout- importance of Respite on June 10th at 10 am by Heather Flick, Dementia Care Specialist, ADRC
The dictionary defines respite as: To relieve temporarily, especially from anything
distressing or trying.
In English ~ Taking a break from situations or circumstances that are stressful.
You may have also heard the term “Self-Care”
You have the RIGHT, even the responsibility to take time away from your caregiving role.
By the end of this presentation, you will have a better understanding of:
- The importance of taking care of yourself while caring for a loved one.
- Defining respite looks like for you
- Respite doesn’t need to cost money. If it does, you’ll leave with resources that can help cover the cost of respite.

WorkMoney- Know Your Resources
Workshop 1 “Know Yourself, Know Your Resources” – 12pm
Join WorkMoney — a free, nonprofit financial wellness community — for an honest, judgment-free workshop about your relationship with money, how it shapes your financial life, and what you can learn from the people in the room alongside you. No finance background needed. No wrong questions. Just show up.
Most of us carry a quiet feeling that we should know more about our finances than we do — but nobody actually taught us this stuff. WorkMoney, a nonprofit financial wellness community, is bringing Know Yourself, Know Your Resources to your neighborhood: a free, honest workshop about your relationship with money, how the American financial system shapes your choices, and how much you can learn from the people sitting right next to you. Come shed the “should,” ask your real questions, and leave with a clearer sense of your own financial picture. Based on the work of WorkMoney founder Carrie Joy Grimes and her upcoming book The Joy of Money.
Workshop 2: “Invisible Strings” – 12pm
Join WorkMoney — a free, nonprofit financial wellness community — for an honest, eye-opening workshop about how credit actually works, why it governs so many of the choices available to us, and what you and your neighbors can do about it. No finance background needed. No wrong questions. Just show up.
Credit shapes where we can live, what we pay to borrow, and what financial options are even available to us — yet most of us were never taught how it actually works. WorkMoney, a nonprofit financial wellness community, is bringing Invisible Strings to your neighborhood: a free workshop about how the American credit system operates, why it’s designed to be confusing, and what you can do once you understand the levers. Come shed the “should,” ask your real questions, and leave feeling a lot less alone with this stuff. Based on the work of WorkMoney founder Carrie Joy Grimes and her upcoming book The Joy of Money.
